Hassle-free home buying

The owners of this Hamptons-style family home are offering a truly turn-key buying opportunity, where all one has to do is walk in and start enjoying the Gold Coast lifestyle

IT’S seen many a celebration and played host to large family gatherings, yet this pristine Hamptons-style home shows no signs of wear and tear.

Its immaculate condition is down to the hard work of owners John and Rhonda Cowley, who bought the house in 2017 as a gathering point for their extended family.

“We have five children and seven grandchildren, so there’s a few of us,” John laughed.

“We are originally from Mackay and we wanted to have a house where all the family could come together.

“We’ve had up to 16 people staying here at times and it has accommodated everyone comfortably.”

With more than 540sq m of under roof space including a large back deck and five generoussized bedrooms, there is certainly no reason to feel crowded.

Yet when the Cowleys purchased the Broadbeach Waters property it wasn’t so habitable. In fact it was only partly built after a forced sale by the previous owner.

Little more than bare bones, John, who is head of his own development company, Cougar Developments, set about finishing the job, ensuring that he added all the bells and whistles. The the final touch, installed last year, was a retractable pergola over the north-facing deck – John’s favourite place to be in the house.

“It’s just gorgeous to sit out there and catch the winter sun while looking out over the pool and the water,” he said.

The home’s interiors are equally inviting, with the traditional blue, grey and white Hamptons decor being the handiwork of Rhonda, who has an eye for interior design.

Combined, these things make this house perfect for a time-poor family looking for a luxury home in a central location, where there is little more for them to do than unpack and put their feet up.

To make it truly turn-key, buyers also have the option of purchasing a luxury furniture package and a Hurricane Fundeck boat for an additional $100,000.

Now that the Cowleys’ children are going in different directions and the grandchildren are growing older, the couple are hoping to downsize to a smaller beachside apartment.

“We want to stay in Broadbeach if we can. It’s just so convenient to everything,” John said.

“We can jump in the boat and be up in Couran Cove before you know it, then pootle back after a day on the water.

“And because we are towards the end of the canal, you don’t get a lot of boats streaming by. It’s extremely private and quiet.”
