A15-YEAR-OLD Glitter Strip mansion has attracted multiple bids with the property under contract before it was due to go under the hammer. family from South Australia has been revealed as the buyers of the six-bedroom waterfront residence at 19 Midshipman Court, Paradise Waters.

Marketing agent Karen Pirie, of Amir Prestige said the property attracted multiple offers before it sold for $5.725 million – the biggest sale on the Coast this week.

“Even though the property was 15 years old it presented like brand new,” Ms Pirie said. “The architecture was beyond its time. “The sellers came from a design background so there was 3.2m ceilings, commercial grade doors and windows, and a great open-plan layout.

“We had a lot of inquiry on it – it was a multiple offers situation.”

Ms Pirie said the buyers, who would relocate to the Gold Coast, planned to renovate the property.

“The buyer inspected the property once at the beginning of the campaign and then negotiated from interstate,” she said.

Meanwhile, a rendered house in Burleigh Waters, known as RUIN X, was taken to auction last weekend in what could be described as the auction of the year.

A crowd of more than 300 squeezed into the property at 31 Beaconsfield Drive to watch the auction of the house that was named the most viewed on realestate.com.au last month.

The property sold for $2.713888 million under the hammer after lengthy negotiations.

The buyer was 26-year-old telephone bidder Christopher Shao from Melbourne who made a shock appearance at the property midway through the auction.

He said he saw the house on social media and knew he had to have it. “It’s one-of-akind, there’s nothing like it in Australia,” he said. “Being young, it’s my kind of style. “I’ve always wanted to move to the Gold Coast so yes, it’s great to get my dream house.”

The vendors, Emma Sweeny and Matt Jamieson, were seen congratulating the buyer on the day. Kollosche agents Eoghan Murphy and Michael Kollosche took the property to auction.
