Capri home opens a door to the Isle

-

ARARE opportunity to buy in the well-heeled and tightly held precinct of the Isle of Capri in Surfers Paradise has arisen with the listing of 101 Gibraltar Dr. The four-bedroom home, on the market for $4.85m, is a world away from the dilapidated house the owners originally bought for $675,000 in 2001.

The home they built in its place was one of the original properties on the Isle of Capri created by the now renowned Gold Coast designer Jared Poole.

Its quality construction and clean lines have made for a timeless design and although almost 20 years old, the house does not look out of place among its more modern-day peers.

“You could move straight in here and be very happy the way it is, but if you did want to update it, it would be very easy to do,” said marketing agent

Avalon Vicario of Amir Prestige.

East-facing on a coveted point position with skyline views stretching from the city to the hinterland, only adds to this home’s appeal.

“It’s just off main river, so you don’t get all the boat traffic and noise, yet it is still on very wide water,” Ms Vicario said.

“It has a sandy beach, 30m of waterfrontage and is on a large 761sq m block, which is uncommon. Blocks bigger than 500 or 600sq m are hard to find,” she said.

“The other appealing thing for buyers is the precinct’s close sense of community. We look out for one another and that holds a lot of sway with people.”

The Isle of Capri’s central location – close to the beach, Surfers Paradise and the new shopping precinct of Via Roma – makes properties in the pocket generally difficult to come by with Ms Vicario saying she had already received a stream of inquiries about No.101.
