Surfers pocket comes to life

-

TOWARDS the southern end of Surfers Paradise there is a hive of activity going on in a traditionally quieter pocket of the bustling suburb. As the scaffolding comes down on what has been a long-awaited refurbishment of BMD Northcliffe Surf Club, cranes and hoarding is going up around a swathe of new development sites, promising to bring a renewed level of luxury to the enclave.

The pocket, in particular Garfield Tce, has always attracted the well-heeled for its central Surfers address and premium beachfront position.

“There is a limited amount of beachfront between Main Beach and Miami and that pocket of Northcliffe is being transformed into an extremely exclusive strip,” said Simon Worthington of Kollosche New Projects.

“The position is just far enough out of Surfers Paradise and closer to Broadbeach, so you can enjoy the benefits of both without being right in the thick of it.

“When all of these buildings are finished, the stretch will be very impressive and highly sought-after among locals and those coming from interstate.”

Aspire by Garfield Developments, a boutique building of 34 luxury apartments topped by a swanky penthouse, is the latest project to join the fray after its DA was recently approved by council.

Demolition has already begun on the site at 9 Garfield Terrace where an existing

Seventies-era block named Anglesea Court will make way for the new 24-storey build.

The builder, Descon Group Australia, has set a four to six week demolition phase before a 20-month construction program gets under way.

More than a third of the Aspire project has already sold, raising about $40m.

Aspire’s combination of half and full-floor apartments range in size from 207sq m to 414sq m with the elite double-storey penthouse stretching to a generous 716sq m. Prices range from $3.364m to $6.98m. with the penthouse yet to be priced.

Those wanting to get a first look and feel of the finishes and facilities planned for the development can visit the project’s display suite, which is set to open on the ground floor of the Oracle building at 4 Charles Avenue, Broadbeach, in the coming weeks.

Aspire has two levels devoted to resident recreation, entertaining and relaxation in a move to bolster the lifestyle appeal of the residents’-only building.

Facilities will include an infinity pool, Infra-red sauna and steam room, gym, yoga room, bar, barbecue areas, modern offices,a conference room and entertaining spaces.

Mr Worthington said the projects amenities were what set it apart.

“To then have the beach right on the doorstep, plus restaurants, cafes, shopping and everyday conveniences on either side, the Aspire lifestyle will be first class,” he said
