Nina notches up sales

- Lisa Hughes

SALES in one of Chevron Island’s newest developments, Nina, continue to tick over, drawing in downsizers from the outskirts of the Gold Coast and Brisbane.

More than 50 per cent of apartments in the 22-storey tower, developed by Aecore, have been sold with construction set to start in the coming months.

The project is the second on Chevron Island for development company, which is also behind the soon to be sold out Allure building.

Consisting of two and three-bedroom apartments as well as several luxury sky homes, Aecore project director Roy Skaf said the bulk of the sales in Nina had been for three-bedroom units.

“We’ve sold a few of the sky homes but the most popular apartments have been the three-bedders,” Mr Skaf said.

“A lot of our buyers are downsizing from four and five-bedroom homes, so to go to straight to a two-bedder is too small.

“Three bedrooms is more realistic and allows them that bit more space to cater to visitors and or just have the room for themselves,” he said.

Mr Skaf said Aecore used feedback received from Allure and applied it to what it is delivering with Nina.

“We see it as a great opportunity,” Mr Skaf said. “We understand the market and what buyers are looking for. Allure is finally about to sell out so we wanted to jump on something quickly to serve those people who are still looking,” he said. “It was a bit of a no-brainer for us.” Chevron Island has long been in need of a facelift but Mr Skaf said he believed in the area, which is in the midst of regeneration.

“It’s the other reason why we are developing a second project here,” Mr Skaf said. “The island has a lot of potential for growth given the location, the amenity and the burgeoning local business hub.”

Apartments in Nina are priced from $735,000, rising to $2.8m for a sky home.
