Ajaw-dropping Surfers Paradise apartment with spectacular views of the Gold Coast is on the market with a $2.565m price tag. The property is in the Sentinel building overlooking the Nerang River in popular Budds Beach.

“Sentinel is a very tightly held building, and when the opportunity arose in 2017 to buy the sub-penthouse from the original owners, I jumped at it,” vendor David Evans said.

“I love living on the river, and what attracted me to this apartment was its size and its 360 degree views.

“Occupying a whole floor, it’s like living in a house but you have these amazing views from the 26th floor towards the beach, north to the Broadwater and around to the rolling hills of the hinterland.

“The beautiful reflections you get on the river at sunrise and sunset are very special, as are the city lights at night.”

Mr Evans decided to renovate the threebedroom apartment to take advantage of the north-facing views up the river towards the Broadwater.

“I knew that to maximise the focus of those views I needed to redesign the layout so that the living and dining spaces captured that magic,” he said.

Working with Sue Hiscox, from Inarc Design Qld, a 10-month renovation followed.

“I wanted the living spaces to have a warm and sophisticated feel, so we used oak flooring throughout and extensive natural stone finishes to the kitchen and living areas,” Mr Evans said.

“The bedrooms and bathrooms have more of a coastal retreat feel with a combination of plush carpet and limestone flooring, linen curtains and white shutters.

“The focal point of the apartment is the oversized cantilevered dining bench in the kitchen. So many people have these amazing dining rooms but inevitably everyone wants to gather in the kitchen and the dining room is never used, so I decided to combine the two and create an entertaining space that was front and centre to the views and the two riverfront terraces.”

And what would an entertaining area be without a showstopper wine cellar?

“The design incorporated curved lines throughout, from the ceiling coffers to the American bamboo wall panelling, so when I suggested I wanted a wine cellar, the designer said ‘Why don’t we make that curved as well?’,” he said.

“It’s like a piece of art, forming part of the wall to the dining room and definitely adds a wow factor to the space.”

Mr Evans said Budds Beach was one of the best-kept secrets on the Gold Coast.

“It’s a quiet riverfront neighbourhood and it has that tightly-held local community feel to it, but you still have Surfers Paradise beach, restaurants, shopping and the light rail station all only a five-minute walk away,” he said.

Marketing agent Katrina Walsh said she had received plenty of interest in the property and didn’t expect it to remain on the market long.
