Think retro, but in all the right ways, and you’ll be on your way to appreciating the laid-back aesthetic of 19 Seriema St in Burleigh Heads and its straightout-of 1960s Florida vibe. For owner builder Taylor Davies, it was all about curating the curves in this fivebedroom, three-bathroom custom-designed home in one of the Gold Coast’s hottest postcodes.

“There are a lot of curves, both inside and out and they work to create a seamless flow throughout the whole house,” Mr Davies said.

“We wanted something different, and we achieved that by getting rid of all the square edges and piecing together a real Palm Springs-type feel to the place.

“We achieved the overall vibe that we set out to get and we’re really happy with how it turned out.”

Taking inspiration from 1960s and 1970s real estate trends, Mr Davies said 19 Seriema truly gave you a “straight out of the old movies” feeling.

“We had a few mid-century houses in mind for inspiration, but the bold street frontage doesn’t really give away what’s inside,” he said.

“The facade in itself is striking but stepping inside gives you that instant wow factor.”

Location was also number one when Mr Davies was looking for the right location for the build.

“Everyone wants to be near Burleigh Beach,” he said.

“This area is a family area and this street, in particular, is a family street.

“Burleigh has that old-school suburban lifestyle where everything is close by and the beach is right there in reach, but it’s five minutes to the M1.”

The property is brimming with fine craftsmanship and luxurious extras everywhere you look.

Subtle nods to the mid-century era include custom cabinetry throughout – meticulously built to ceiling height with no bulkheads – recessed curtain runners with blackout and sheered curtains, colour-coded venetian render, and large skylights for an abundance of natural light.

Poised for practicality there is a guest suite with an ensuite on the lower level, with a nearby powder room and a designer kitchen with butler’s pantry flowing into a large living area with outdoor access and a spacious laundry and storeroom.

Upstairs includes a media room with custom block TV unit and curved internal walls, a master bedroom and showpiece ensuite featuring Burleigh headland views and three more bedrooms with built-in robes.

The upstairs guest bathroom has a freestanding bath, and the nearby storeroom features a laundry chute.

Outside the attention to detail continues, with the saltwater pool featuring seamless cantilever pool coping and a feature wall with rendered seating.

Entertainers will love the huge alfresco area with travertine tiles, designated barbecue space and landscaped gardens with outdoor shower.
