Aptly coined “good fish” by the earliest Indigenous inhabitants, the suburb we now know as Palm Beach is surrounded by seafood being bordered by Currumbin Creek, Tallebudgera Creek and the Pacific Ocean to the east. Claimed for sugar cane farming in the late 1800s, by the 1960s the area was discovered as a holiday destination with beach shacks lining the sand dunes. Palm Beach has been crowned Queensland’s cleanest beach three times. Jefferson Lane is now among the Gold Coast’s most sought-after beachfront real estate, with a home at No. 181 selling this year for a street record price of $8,275,000. Demand for more housing in the popular suburb is being met by a string of new developments.
