Record off-theplan sale

-

A GIANT $9m deal has been struck for a penthouse in Surfers Paradise – the highest price paid per square metre for an apartment on the Gold Coast.

At $24,725 per square metre, the offthe-plan contract of the four-bedroom apartment in Chevron One Residences on Chevron Island was signed by a Sydney family who plan to use the luxury residence as a holiday home.

By comparison, the 1070sq m Soul penthouse, which sold for a recordbreaking price of $15.25m in May, 2021, equated to $14,252 per square metre.

The Chevron Island penthouse, marketed as a “skyhome”, spans 364sq m and features bespoke stone, timber joinery and European appliances as well as views of the Surfers Paradise skyline.

Bensons Property Group is behind the $350m, 41-level build at 42 Stanhill Drive.

“The Sydney buyers holiday on the Gold Coast and bring their kids up every school holidays so they wanted something with amazing views and that they could lock and leave,” Bensons Property Group’s Andrew Crichton said.

“They didn’t want to be in the busy areas of Broadbeach or Surfers Paradise (beachfront) so this gives them something that is close but not in those areas.

“We updated the skyhome finishes a year-and-a-half ago and so the finishes were also a big appeal.

“Being a record price for square metre rate really sets the tone for the rest of the sky homes that will be on offer.”

Chevron One, designed by Marchese Partners and under construction at 42 Stanhill Drive, will be the tallest tower on Chevron Island once built.

A sub-penthouse, with a price tag of $25m, is expected to be released in the coming weeks while a super-penthouse on levels 40 and 41 that is almost 2000sq m will be retained by Bensons Property Group chairman Elias Jreissati.

Remaining apartments are priced at more than $1m. Chevron One is expected to be built by late 2024.
