Sky-high price for designer home
Entertainer’s dream sets price record for non beachside property
ATUGUN home with a designer al fresco area inspired by a top city hotel has sold under the hammer for $3.21m, setting a new record for a nonbeachside property in the southern Gold Coast suburb.
The newly built home at 15 Singh St drew a large crowd for the early morning auction, with five registered bidders taking the price to the highest ever paid for a single residential lot on the western side of the highway.
Harcourts auctioneer Rob Forde fielded the opening bid of $2m, with a total of 54 bids notched up for the five-bedroom, threebathroom luxury home named Vantage for its elevated position capturing ocean views.
Marketing agent Ed Cherry, of
Harcourts Coastal, said the buyers were a local family who would relocate from the nearby hotspot of Burleigh Heads.
“The sale sets a new benchmark for Tugun,” Mr Cherry said.
“For these buyers, the appeal was not only the benefit of moving into an incredibly high-quality architectural new build, but also because Tugun has been deemed as an up-and-coming cosmopolitan beachside precinct like Burleigh, with comparable amenities like the boutique shops, restaurants and cafe scene, but with less populated beaches.”
Vantage was the first project of its calibre for owner-builders Adam and Natasha Harrison, of H&H Construction, and designed by Reece Keil Architects.
The home on a 508sq m lot combined striking angles with textures including brick, polished concrete, timber and natural stone, while the glamorous interiors and poolside lounge area were inspired by chic city hotels such as the Calile, in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
It is an entertainer’s dream, with the open-plan kitchen and living areas on the lower level both leading out to the al fresco zone.
The pool is surrounded by crazy pavers, built-in day loungers, low-maintenance lawns, and a custom-rendered outdoor kitchen and barbecue area complete with ethanol fireplace.
The master bedroom is tucked away in a corner like a private sanctuary, with a freestanding bath in the open ensuite, floorto-ceiling windows, and a walk-in robe.
