wA lush Hinterland haven and luxury high-rise apartment were among big sales under the hammer on the Gold Coast as clearance rates still hovered well below the halfway mark. And a canalfront stunner smashed the suburb record by $400,000 when it sold at an Elanora auction, showing continued heat for high-end properties.

Latest PropTrack data put the Gold Coast auction clearance rate at 43 per cent.

Three bidders were active at last Friday’s auction for a sprawling acreage property at 42 Petsch Creek Rd, Tallebudgera Valley which sold for $3.3m.

Known as Mandevilla, the 3.16ha estate was marketed by Rob Lamb, of Kollosche, and comprised a double-storey fourbedroom home, as well as a separate guest house.Vendor Vivienne Sales was thrilled the property went to a family with two daughters, who would also take ownership of the two resident Shetland ponies, Princess and Gracie.

It was purchased by local couple, Ben Rochford and Dominee Gessnar, of Tidal Constructions, who sold their last property, a Reedy Creek mansion dubbed Villa Casa, to AFL superstar Lance Buddy Franklin and wife Jesinta in an eye-popping $9m deal.

In other auction results, a three-bedroom apartment in Sunland’s 272 Hedges tower was sold to a Brisbane buyer for $3.26m.

The apartment on the seventh floor of the only high-rise building on Mermaid Beach’s Multimillionaire’s Row was owned by a finance executive, who had purchased it from the developer for $2.016m in 2019.

Auctioneer Justin Nickerson, of Apollo Auctions, fielded bids from three of the five registered bidders.

The luxury unit was marketed by Danny Stanley and Rebecca Jackson, of Kollosche, and came on the back of this month’s record $12m deal for a whole-floor apartment on level 42 of the sleek 44-storey building.

Mr Stanley said the tower’s residentsonly policy appealed to prestige buyers.

“I think it is the best apartment building on the Gold Coast. The amenities are second to none and there is still big demand and a lot of hype around the building,” he said.

And in Elanora, a luxury home at 203 Nineteenth Ave sold for $2.9m, smashing the suburb’s previous sale record of $2.505m. The all-white five-bedroom, threebathroom waterfront home house was marketed by Ed Cherry, of Harcourts Coastal.
