Working in lap of luxury

As delivery guys they’re a hard act to top

-

JOHN Nosworthy and Glen Dawney are two Tweed Heads businessman who can vouch that Red Bull is top-shelf.

They head contract landscaping business the Boyds Bay Group, which has a longtime association with Sanctuary Cove and has undertaken contracts on Hamilton and Hayman island resorts and at Kingscliff’s Salt estate.

Perhaps plum among the company’s assignments in its 35-year history has been work for Red Bull drinks founder Dietrich Mateschitz on his seven-star Laucala private-island resort in Fiji.

The island, rated third-best resort in the world, has a golf course, international airport, 26 villas, and Mr Mateschitz’s own home, which TV personality Oprah Winfrey has stayed in at 26,000 euro a night.

Guests in the 8000 euro a night.

The $6 million Boyds Bay contract, which included sourcing and barging in plants from other islands and from Australia and NZ, started in

villas pay 2006 and lasted nine months.

The Boyds Bay team still travels to the remote Laucala periodically to train the island’s ground staff and to undertake maintenance.

That begs the question: Where do they stay?

“Well, as much as we’d like to, we don’t get to stay in the villas,” says John. “We are put up in the staff quarters which, by anyone’s standards, are still pretty good.”

Staff have their own pool area, bar, and what John terms ‘top-notch’ dining. MY Kitchen Rules 2014 favourites Blair Tonkin and Paul Bullpitt donned their aprons once again to take the roles of humble pizza delivery men to help raise awareness for youth mental health.

Teaming up with Retail Food Group franchise Pizza Capers, the Gold Coast dads made their way to Pizza Capers Palm Beach where they helped make, cook and deliver pizza to one lucky competition winner.

Paul and Blair said they were proud to help out as pizza delivery guys in aid of a good cause.

The Rogue & Rouge Foundation have partnered with Pizza Capers to share the message “I Love You With Every Pizza My Heart” to the youth of Australia.

Competition winners across the country entered the contest for the chance to have their pizza delivered by some of Australia’s biggest stars.

Pizza Capers general man- ager Yvette Shearer said the team felt privileged to be able to support the foundation through donating time and gourmet pizzas.

“We hope that our involvement in this promotion has helped the foundation raise awareness for youth mental health,” Ms Shearer said.

The Rogue & Rouge Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to engaging young people to tackle mental health issues.
