Titans seek strength guru

-

THE Gold Coast Titans have extended their search for a new strength coach to the highly-successful Melbourne Storm.

The Titans have short-listed Storm fitness guru Matt Ford as they hunt for a replacement for Manly-bound Dan Ferris.

Ferris will leave the Titans at the end of the season after eight years at the club.

He will link up with ex-Titans coach John Cartwright, who will be an assistant to Trent Barrett, while good friend Nate Myles is also on his way to Brookvale Oval.

Ford met coach Neil Henry during the week and toured the club’s Pizzey Park headquarters.

The Storm were in Brisbane preparing for Thursday night’s 15-8 win over the Broncos.

Ford went to the Storm in 2013 after cutting his teeth at Canberra, the club Henry used to coach before his five-year stint in North Queensland.

Henry is hoping to make an appointment well before the start of pre-season training in early November, given the planning that will need to take place.

Ferris will continue at the Titans until the end of the month. He’s having input into how the club’s new training fa- cility at Parkwood will be constructed.

Henry is also hunting for a new recruitment boss after Jamie Mathiou’s resignation.

Raiders recruiter Dave Hamilton has been talked about along with Dave Warwick, who was recently let go by Manly.
