A FORMER bikie boss who stabbed a man with a screwdriver is seeking a shorter sentence so he can become a role model for his son.

Former Lone Wolf president Christopher Taylor, 39, yesterday pleaded guilty to 36 charges, including extortion, kidnapping, assault and possessing stolen cars and weapons.

Taylor’s defence counsel pleaded with Southport District Court chief judge Kerry O’Brien to impose a six-anda-half-year sentence so Taylor could be out in time to straighten up his “rebellious” 14-year-old son.

The sentence would take into consideration 27 months OFFICERS from the Rapid Action and Patrols unit responding to a domestic violence call-out have uncovered a stash of homemade weapons and drug equipment at a Mudgeeraba house.

The anti-bikie taskforce was called after a report that a 33-year-old man and his mother, 54, were fighting about 8pm on Thursday.

A 46-year-old man who lived at the house had tried to intervene but as the dispute escalated police were called.

A search led to RAP officers discovering cannabis, diazepam and oxycodone, drug already served. Taylor stabbed Gold Coast mechanic Todd Schinkel with a screwdriver in March, 2013, before kidnapping him over a $5000-$6000 ice debt.

He was heavily addicted to ice at the time and called Mr Schinkel’s mother and threatened to gouge out her son’s eyes if she did not pay a $1000 ransom.

Judge O’Brien yesterday adjourned sentencing until November 4 so he could consider Taylor’s family situation.

The court was told Taylor became a member of the Lone Wolf bikie gang a decade ago after missing the “locker room camaraderie” of his old rugby team.

“He kept playing until he was 28 when an injury prevented him from playing at a high level,” his defence said. paraphernalia, ammunition, fireworks, a shotgun, replica handgun and a homemade replica sawn-off shotgun.

A 33-year Mudgeeraba man was taken into custody and later charged with a total of 11 offences including possession of drugs, weapons and explosives.

He was given bail and will appear in court on November

“He didn’t have access to the locker room camaraderie.

“He was approached by members of the club by people who played with him. It got him into trouble.”

The Southport District Court also heard how Taylor tried to leave the gang when it was declared a criminal organisation but was threatened by other members.

The remaining bikies tried to force Taylor to give them his Gold Coast tattoo parlour and when he refused, they threatened his partner and two children.

When Taylor heard of this he found out where Lone Wolf members had buried a stash of weapons and stole them. The weapons, which Taylor buried, were among those discovered in a police raid in 2012. 12. Police said he was not licensed to have any weapons.

“These incidents can escalate so quickly, then someone loses their life,” said RAP commander, Inspector Shane Holmes.

“Of particular concern were the number of weapons within the residence.”

Assistant Commissioner Brian Codd, when responding to the Queensland Organised Crime Commission Inquiry report yesterday, noted the wider role provided by RAP.

Commissioner Codd said he did not believe the city’s strong focus on bikies had taken away from other criminal investigations.
