New addition to off-road vehicle range
THE iconic off-road vehicle brand Jeep is entering the small SUV market with the arrival of the Renegade range.
The new vehicle is available from Gold Coast Chrysler Jeep Dodge and general manager Adam Presley said it combined the brand’s heritage with fresh new styling to appeal to youthful and adventurous customers and would also offer a best-in-class combination of fuel efficiency and off-road capability.
“All-new ‘small-wide 4x4 architecture’ combines best-in-class off-road capability with world-class on-road driving dynamics,” he said.
“Renegade’s all-new interior exudes an energetic appearance with rugged and functional details, crafted in high-quality materials and inspired colours.”
As well as its impressive performance on and off the road, Mr Presley said the vehicles also featured technology once limited to premium SUVs, including Uconnect access, touchscreen radios and a large full colour instrument panel.
“Safety and security were at the forefront in the development of the all-new 2015 Jeep Renegade, setting the stage for up to 70 available safety and security features– including the availability of Forward Collision Warning-Plus and LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus,” he said.
“In addition, engineers added both active and passive safety and security features, including blind-spot monitoring; rear cross path detection ParkView rear backup camera with dy- namic grid lines, electronic stability control with electronic roll mitigation and seven standard air bags.”
Continuing the tradition started by the Willys MB Jeep back in 1941, the Renegade also features two My Sky open-air systems, being a roof-panel system which can be removed manually or with a premium power/tilt slide feature. The honeycomb fibreglass polyurethane roof panels are lightweight and stow neatly in the rear cargo area.
The Renegade is available in both 2WD and 4WD variants, with a choice of four models across the range including the Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk.
Mr Presley said people demanding the most off-road capability from their Jeep might want to consider the Renegade Trailhawk model, which featured an increased ride height, more than 900kg towing capability, hill descent control, 17inch all-terrain tyres and the ability to ford up to 48cm of water.
