Monis sex fiend claim

Serial cheat preyed on vulnerable

- JANET FIFE-YEOMANS

LINDT siege killer Man Monis was a twisted womaniser who was cheating on his girlfriend even as he persuaded her to allegedly murder his ex-wife.

The siege inquest heard he tried to reconcile with his exwife – 30-year-old Noleen Pal – one month before she was allegedly stabbed 18 times in the back and set on fire by his girlfriend Amirah Droudis in April 2013.

The pair were just two of the vulnerable women Monis preyed on from 2001 under the guise of a spiritual healer and clairvoyant in Sydney’s western suburbs.

One girlfriend bought him a white Mercedes and a black BMW. Another took out a $25,000 loan to buy a Harley-Davidson when Monis wanted to join the Rebels bikie gang. When the Rebels didn’t want him and kept the Harley, she was left to repay the loan.

The secret life of Monis is detailed in police documents tendered to the inquest into the 2014 Lindt Cafe siege.

“Monis was maintaining intimate relationships with a number of women simul- taneously,” Detective Senior Constable Melanie Staples said in her statement.

This was despite claiming to be an Islamic cleric and practising a religion where sex outside marriage is prohibited.

By the time he walked into the Lindt Cafe, taking 18 hostages at gunpoint and claiming to have a bomb in his backpack on December 15, 2014, Monis had just one girlfriend – Droudis.

None of the women were told the truth as he lied about his age, background, employ- ment and religion. Three were long-term relationships that overlapped, including Ms Pal, Droudis and the late Ireen Mishra.

Once police had identified Monis as the terrorist, they put Droudis under surveillance.
