- EMILY SELLECK

THE Gold Coast Show might be 110 years old but it is continually evolving with new attractions.

Aside from the traditional cake stalls, rides and show bags, event organisers have added new lures for the 30,000 showgoers expected at the Gold Coast Turf Club, Bundall, on August 26-28.

Here are five new additions not to miss.

100m dash: Top young sprinters will vie for $5000 in prizes. Heats will be held at Griffith University on August 25 and the top six males and females from six age groups will meet on Show Day Friday.

Cowboy War: Australia’s toughest bull riders will meet the nation’s best bucking stock. There will also be fireworks and brilliant lighting.

Show ’n Shine: Hot rods, classics and muscle cars will feature in the Auto Mania Show and Shine contest. Judging will cover a range of categories including wicked paint jobs, fat rims and awesome interiors.

Adventure Trail: Preschoolers can follow a trail through the showgrounds and receive a stamp at locations such as the animal nursery and pig racing.

Wristbands: For the first time, all-day ride wristbands are available for pre-purchase at $15 for children under seven and $25 for those eight years or older.
