Father and son trainers hope for run of wins

- – TOM BOSWELL

BRYAN Guy hopes the first victory of his training partnership with son Daniel turns into a flood of winners.

The duo had their first runners under the partnership on September 3 and yesterday cracked a win with Sidero Star in Ipswich.

Bryan said it was good to get the monkey off their back but hopes the run can continue with Amata and Buon Auspicio.

Amata will run in the McLauchlan Wealth Fillies & Mares Ratings Band 0-65 (1200m) on the Gold Coast while Buon Auspicio will run in the Hotel Beach House Fillies and Mares Class 6 Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

Amata’s last win came on August 8 at Ballina and Guy has faith it can challenge again after managing fifth in the 5YO mare’s last start on the Gold Coast in a 1100m run.

“Her run before last was very good and the last race probably didn’t suit her. It was a bit short,” Guy said.

“Coming back against fillies and mares should suit her down to the ground.”

Guy also backed Buon Auspicio to go close after finishing second in a Gold Coast trial midweek.

“They called off the races so I had to trial her and she did really well,” Guy said.

“It’s a nice race … and should suit her so we will keep our fingers crossed. She is a tryer … so we expect her to go nice.”
