IT’S TIME TO CUT LOOSE AND TREAT YOURSELF

-

From square dancing in the city to country music by the seaside, it’s the perfect weekend to indulge in some dishes from the deep south.

In the heart of the free Broadbeach Country Music Festival, the Loose Moose may draw inspiration from Canada, but has the perfect position to put you in the mood for any North American food.

Billed as dirty food made good, they’ve managed to make even hot dogs and burgers comparatively clean by sticking to lean meat and a better class of ingredients.

Whet your palate with five styles of buffalo wings – from those slathered in a gut-searing Carolina Reaper sauce to the addictive Sweet Jesus – flavoured with maple and smoky barbecue.

The drinks list is encyclopaedic, with a world of cockle-warming whiskeys, craft beer and slick cocktails. Make sure you try the seasonally infused old-fashioneds – the fig-infused bourbon, with Ron Zacapa and barrel-aged bitters is one sophisticated sip.

Before you exit for some more of that southern music on the stage, you may regret it if you don’t find a second wind for dessert.

From a sinfully rich homemade Snickers ice cream cake to a gooey cherry and dark chocolate slice with raspberry curd, you may just want to cancel the concert and call for an encore of eating.
