Totally WorkWear has it sewn up

-

INDUSTRIAL and corporate uniform supplier Totally WorkWear Gold Coast had the competition covered at this month’s Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards.

The independent retailer, owned by business couple Jason and Carey De Boer, claimed the Retail, Wholesale and Distribution Award for July.

Ms De Boer said Totally WorkWear had enjoyed strong growth in the past five years and looked to grow further.

“When Jason and I bought the business 10 years ago we had one small 200sq m store at Ashmore,’’ she said.

“We now have four stores in the Gold Coast-Tweed region and we are hopeful of opening a fifth store within the next two years.”

Ms De Boer said the couple had invested a lot of time and money improving the company’s equipment and training its employees to provide better service to its clients.

“We have focused on continual improvement,’’ she said.

“This strategy has included streamlining our stock management process, the computerisation of the business, investing in new embroidery equipment and building the company’s profile.”

Ms De Boer said the company’s clients included Queensland Health, National Tiles, Australian Industry Trade College, Telwater, Gold Coast TAFE, St Hilda’s, The Southport School, KDR Gold Coast, Gold Coast City Council, Mr Rentals and Victory Ford.

“There’s no doubt that large customers are important to our business but we value every customer who walks through the door, whether they are an apprentice tradesman who is just starting out or the chief executive of a major organisation,’’ Ms De Boer said.

She said she was honoured the company’s efforts had been recognised with the award.

Patriot Campers won Emerging Business trophy, Lucy Cole Prestige Properties the Family Business, and Dynamic Hydro Excavations the Construction and Trades trophy.
