Rooftop venue in rebuild
sive damage to Nobbys Kebabs, the Fish & Chips shop and The Protein Place, forcing them out of business.
Work has finally begun to rebuild the block — this time with a second storey — with Ridgeline Management and Smith Commercial marketing the new tenancies.
Leonie Smith, from Smith Commercial, said construction was well under way for the ground-floor tenancies.
“We have been inundated with inquiries and this has al- lowed the owner to choose some outstanding operators from the Gold Coast and interstate with exciting concepts and cuisines,” she said.
“They’re all established operators.”
The rebuilt complex will be comprised of three 90sq m to 104 sqm premises on the ground floor and the rooftop restaurant and bar.
“Three have gone out to lease documentation and we are awaiting one more to issue a lease. Expected hand- over is last quarter of this year,” Ms Smith said.
Ridgeline Management and Smith Commercial have received 30 inquiries since formal advertising started six weeks ago and “numerous inquiries prior”.
“We’ve had an amazing response to it even before the rubble was cleared,” she said.
Renovations at another Nobby Beach hotspot taking things up a level are nearing completion after the newlook downstairs area of Greek restaurant Hellenika reopened last night.
Owner Simon Gloftis said work was continuing on the restaurant’s new upper level, due to open in late October.
Mr Manettas’ company, Earth Produce Pty Ltd, also owns a neighbouring block of shops and an adjoining site at 32 Lavarack Rd that houses Sparrow Eating House.
Mr Manettas’ parcel will become a prime redevelopment site when the Gold Coast Light Rail is extended. THE Queensland Rugby Union has been ordered to pay former Wallabies and Queensland Reds coach John Connolly $150,000 in damages for failing to honour an oral contract after he was sacked as a coaching consultant.
Connolly launched legal action against the QRU after he was dumped in July 2015, six weeks into a $3000-a-week job he expected to last until the end of the 2016 Super Rugby season.
Brisbane District Court Judge Ian Dearden yesterday ordered QRU to pay $150,000, with calculations for interest and costs to be determined later.
