Thor delights adoring fans
Hemsworth describes joy filming on Coast
HOLLYWOOD heavyweight Chris Hemsworth thrilled hundreds of excited fans at the Gold Coast’s social event of the year last night.
He was at Robina Town Centre for the Australian premiere of Thor: Ragnarok, and spent more than 30 minutes taking selfies with fans and chatting to media.
“I would love to shoot everything here (on the Gold Coast),” he said
“Anything I read or anything that comes my way, I’m trying to bring back here.
“This is one of the best experiences I’ve had on a set and to catch up with (everyone) and have them see all their hard work is very special.”
As for who would win in a battle between Thor and fellow Marvel superhero Aquaman?
“Thor, definitely,” Hemsworth confidently told the Bulletin.
Managing director of Walt Disney Australia Kylie Watson-Wheeler said the Gold Coast was “on the consideration list” as a filming location for future Disney films.
“When you think about what Queensland has to offer from a production perspective ... there are so many great locations,” she said.
Screen Queensland CEO Tracey Vieira said it was a coup for Queensland to secure Chris Hemsworth at the premiere.
“He’s one of those celebrities who gives back,” she said.
“It’s amazing to see it (Thor: Ragnarok) from the day it was confirmed ... to the scale of thousands of people.
“It’s important we have a great relationship with them (Disney and Marvel) and bring more films to Queensland.”
VIPs in attendance included director Taika Waititi, producer Brad Winderbaum, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, athlete Sally Pearson, reality TV stars from The Bachelor, Instagram influencers and local radio hosts.
