A beach expert known as Dr Rip says the “swim between the flags message” has become white noise and more needs to be done to teach people about deadly rips Mitchell Coight

I never swim betweed the flags, I prefer to swim away from the crowd of children and tourists, but I know how to read the beach and rips, I am a confident swimmer and have grown up in the water, surfing, swimming etc. The amount of people that I have met who are not confident swimmers and don’t know how to read the beach is astonishing to say the least.

Rusty Bone Holloway

Not white noise. People are becoming more arrogant and increasingly stupid. If you don’t swim in between the flags you ahould be left to drown. Natural selection needs to happen.

Allan John

They aren’t usless, they just aren’t 100% effective for a whole beach...maybe rip signs should be erected along the beach aswell.

Les Norman

Most ppl try to swim between the flags but most of the time the currents sweep u out of them

Robyn Atkinson

A short video on board incoming flights in different languages would be a good idea.

Kama Rae

Road rules, if not followed result in fines, why not fine idiots who are outside flagged areas that need rescuing

Jason Willems

U can’t educate foreigners and weak swimmers on currents. Even clubbies can get caught out as I’ve seen it. The flags ... are all we need
