GOLD COAST QUADDIE

- NICOLE THOMAS UBET

Race 5 – BM 75 Hcp (1800m) Houdini The Great ran well at his first ever Queensland start and should appreciate the extra distance. First Crush is third-up fit and could possibly challenge. Grey Steyne is flying and looks ready to tackle the 1800m. The welltravelled Mount Panorama is right in this.

Selections: 1 Houdini The Great, 2 First Crush, 6 Grey Steyne, 11 Mount Panorama

Race 6 – Class 1 Hcp (1200m) Love Ya Mrs was supported at big odds and duly saluted on debut, despite finishing in the lesser going. Sequalo’s Spirit is a chance out to this distance third-up. Dream Master brained them at Ballina, won a recent trial and stable commands respect first-up. The Ambassadore has been costly to punters but gets another chance.

Selections: 1 Love Ya Mrs, 8 Sequalo’s Spirit, 5 Dream Master, 2 The Ambassadore

Race 7 – 0-65 Hcp (1400m) Last-start winner Mandela Dreaming looks the one to beat if she starts – she is also nominated for Toowoomba tonight. Monaco Playboy won his last start against all odds and is in contention from the prized draw. Rain track would enhance Gouldian’s chances. Shannonbrook Miss comes off back-to-back wins and gets the 3kg claim.

Selections: 4 Mandela Dreaming, 2 Monaco Playboy, 1 Gouldian, 10 Shannonbrook Miss

Race 8 – Class 5 Hcp (1300m) The southern raider Magic Alibi looks hard to beat despite the awkward alley. Rhyme Nor Rhythm was heavily supported last time but just missed out and looks the main danger. Charlie Cat tackled a tough race first-up and looks better suited here. Round Mountain Gem is always thereabouts and could collect another cheque. Selections: 2 Magic Alibi, 4 Rhyme Nor Rhythm, 5 Charlie Cat, 13 Round Mountain Gem
