Stable in line to take more honours

- NATHAN EXELBY DOOMBEN

TONY Gollan’s runners were the stars of the show at Doomben a fortnight ago and even without excitement machine Ef Troop, the stable is still poised for more healthy returns today.

Gollan admits Ef Troop is a horse that has put “butterflies” in his stomach for the first time since Temple and Spirit Of Boom were flying the flag for his stable.

But with Ef Troop cooling his heels waiting for the Magic Millions in a fortnight, it’s another favourite leading the stable’s charge today.

Most Important won a $500,000 bonus on this day last year and even though he is an extra win away from a repeat of that, his formline is just as lethal as he tries to win The Buffering (1350m) for a second time.

“When he’s in form you know what you’re going to get with him,” Gollan said.

“He puts himself in the race, presents at the right time and is then very hard to get past

“I would expect he will do something similar again (today). He’s done really well since the last-start win.

“I just want the track to keep drying out.”

I’m A Rippa also runs for the stable in The Buffering.

“I want to get him into the QTIS race on Magic Millions day and I’m hoping this race will get his rating up,” he said.

Khalama is widely drawn in the Falvelon but Gollan expects it to suit better than an inside barrier.
