THE world’s best darts players will sample Brisbane next week before heading south to the Gold Coast on January 17-18.

One of the fastest growing televised sports in the world, the Profession­al Darts Corporatio­n have gone to great lengths to change the image of the game in recent times, with the Pro Darts Series to head to Gold Coast Turf Club as the second leg on the four-stop tour. The series will tour Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville and Mackay, with each event to run across two nights.

The opening night will be qualifying rounds where 16 players will narrow down to eight who are then matched up on the second night in the finals.

The dart player with the highest aggregate score across all four events will win the series. After opening at Brisbane’s Royal Internatio­nal Convention Centre next Wednesday and Thursday, the series then heads to Gold Coast with all events to be live streamed on Fox Sports.

Among the star players will be Phil ‘The Power Taylor, a 16-time world champion, 16-time World Match Play Champion and runner up in the 2017/18 World Championsh­ip.

Simon ‘The Wizard’ Whitlock, world No.10, also joins Kyle ‘The Original’ Anderson; An indigenous Queensland­er ranked No.23 in the world.

Devon ‘The Spartan’ Peterson, John ‘Johhny K’ Kuzcinski, Andy ‘The Hammer’ Hamilton, Jamie ‘Bravedart’ Harvey and Russell ‘Rusty’ Stewart round out the allstar line-up.
