LEE OPEN TO LEFTFIELD IDEAS THIS YEAR

- CONNOR O’BRIEN @obrien_GCB

BRENKO Lee could be in for a steep learning curve in his maiden year at the Titans.

The 22-year-old has now played 33 NRL games and established himself as a regular right centre for the Bulldogs last year.

He makes no secret of the fact that right centre is his favourite position but there is one problem – cult hero and Tongan star Konrad Hurrell is the incumbent there.

“I haven’t played on the left before so we’ll have a chat and see what goes on the footy field and see what works but yeah I’m open,” he said.

“I have just played there (on the right) my whole life. I haven’t really played left side but yeah I guess it is something to learn.”

Lee yesterday met his new teammates for the first time and wants to make good early impressions as he looks to extend his tenure on the Gold Coast beyond this year.

The oldest of 12 kids, Lee is a dedicated family man and is relishing being back in the Logan area after being based away from his parents and siblings since he was 16.

“It was the right move to come back home,” he said.

“Everything was going well at the Bulldogs but my heart wasn’t really at that place at that time so this is more of a move to be with my family.

“The happiness of being home, it should translate onto the footy field because there is no excuse of being homesick anymore.”
