Talent is coming at a cost
THE Gold Coast Dolphins are paying the price of producing so many future stars of Queensland and Australian cricket.
With so many representative duties these days the Dolphins are not getting to see much of Michael Neser, Max Bryant and Xavier Bartlett.
And the reality is that the first grade team is suffering in the top club competition in the state.
But that’s what the club is all about, says coach Damian Wallis. “We’re here to get the young guys through to the next levels of the game,” Wallis said as the Dolphins flounder at the foot of the Brisbane Premier Grade ladder heading into a weekend of three T20 fixtures.
“There’s plenty of batting and all-round talent here now and hopefully we can put it all together for a change.”
With the exception of improved Max Houlahan the batting has yet to fire to th erequired standard.
It is a busy weekend for the Dolphins with a T20 program at Sandgate Redcliffe today (v the Gators at 10am) and the Sunshine Coast (2pm).
Tomorrow the Dolphins are at their home base at Bill Pippen Oval to play South Brisbane (2pm).
The Dolphins side for the weekend: Lewin Maladay (capt), Liam HopeShackley, Max Houlahan, Jack Hargreaves, Cameron Francis, Trent Arnold, Howard Biddle, Canning Mason, Nathan Lyons, Josh Kann, Matt Kuhnemann.
