Q

As for your own on-court ambitions, you’ve returned from a hiatus and say there’s still an element of uncertainty about your future in the sport. But if there was one dream that you could tick off, what would it be?

A

Wimbledon main draw would have to be up there and getting a jersey from being part of a Davis Cup team. I was very close one time. Pat Rafter called me up and told me that I was playing and then there was a lastminute change, as I was the fifth player and there was a couple of injuries in the team. I think I would have been the 103rd Davis Cup player (for Australia) or something like that. That would be pretty incredible to do that but we’ll just take it one step at a time for now.

Q

Back to the immediate future. You won the Canberra International in late 2015. You’re back in the nation’s capital for the Canberra Challenger which starts today. It’s a little-known tournament but it’s no walk in the park is it?

A

They are tough events to play. There’s 14 players in that who are playing in the Australian Open main draw. Little things like that, people from the outside looking in wouldn’t really think it is too big a deal.

Q

Will you get a chance at all to head along to Melbourne to watch the Australian Open firsthand?

A

I may go down and watch a bit. I’m still undecided on that. I like staying clear of tennis and keep fresh if I’m not actually playing.
