Andrew Dunemann rates the top three highlights of his sporting life
Temple Of Boom winning at Flemington in 2010
You had a little horse from a country town of Toowoomba with a trainer who at that stage was very much unknown, Tony. The thrill we had that day was unbelievable. It was just a perfect day. We had a mate who got us into the AAMI tent in the birdcage. We tipped Temple to everyone in the AAMI tent. Off we go down to the presentation, get the trophy, take it back to the AAMI tent and everyone thinks you’re a legend because you tipped them the horse and they have all backed it. It was unbelievable. It was just a day you couldn’t have scripted any better. That’s definitely the No.1. It was a Listed race but for where we were, and where Tony was at that stage, it was a lifetime thrill.
2005 World Club Challenge rugby league in England
I was lucky when I was playing at Leeds we had a really good team. I played in a Challenge Cup final, we won a World Club Challenge and won a Super League grand final. They’re all good memories. The World Club Challenge (against the Bulldogs) was a really good memory. The whole experience of it … you’re at Elland Road with 40,000 people only going for one team.
“The boys” running the quinella in the Doomben 10,000
Unbelievable. I didn’t really get to celebrate the aftermath but I definitely celebrated that night. To do that with two horses that were cheap buys – $40,000 and $90,000 – and to go on and be able to quinella a Group 1, that’s pretty special.
