Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin

‘We’re here to make memories’

- BRITT RAMSEY

HE’S a self-confessed “volunteer-aholic” and proud of it.

So it was a no-brainer for Anthony Kriis to put his hand up to help out at the biggest event to hit the Gold Coast.

And though he’s got no direct ties to the Games or athletes, he has his own story.

“I do tell my little story about how I missed out on being selected to represent Australia at the Olympics, when asked why, I tell them that I was never any good at any of the sports,” Mr Kriis said.

“The most important thing is to make lasting memories for the many that visit, compete, volunteer and work on the Gold Coast.”

With the opening ceremony dress rehearsal this weekend, he understands many people may be tempted to spill the beans on what to expect. But he’s encouraging them to remain tight lipped.

“Why spoil it, it’s a great honour to be part of this exciting event and lets remain focuses and let everyone experience and enjoy what is to come altogether.”

Share your most memorable moment from your volunteering experience of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games for your chance to be featured in the Bulletin’s Thank you to the Volunteers of the Commonwealth Games magazine and to go in the draw to win 1 of 25 two-nights’ stay at Sea World Resort.
