‘Shark’ confirms bridge folklore

-

LIFE’S often a case of who you know, as US-based Aussie businessman Andrew Liveris (pictured) showed the other day at the Royal Queensland golf course in Brisbane.

Andrew, who holidays regularly on the Gold Coast and retires in July as chairman of US giant DowDupont, was playing with son Nick and Mermaid Beach dweller Terry Jackman.

The course sits below the giant structure that is the Gateway bridge.

The trio were told that Royal Brisbane folklore had it that golfing great Greg Norman had smashed a ball right over the bridge using a fiveiron.

Andrew apparently said “Just a moment”, emailed Norman, and posed a question.

Ten minutes later a reply came back, complete with a smiling emoji, advising Andrew that the matter no longer was folklore – Norman did hit a five-iron over the bridge.
