SARGEANT ORDERS A DOSE OF SELF BELIEF
BOND University flyer Hayden Sargeant says overcoming the nerves of his national call-up will all be about trusting himself.
Sargeant was included alongside Bond teammate Angus Blyth in Australia’s squad for the Oceania Rugby U20s Championship on the Gold Coast from April 27 to May 5. It will be the 20-yearold’s first time representing his country outside of the Australian Uni Games sevens team.
“It means a lot,” said the Surfers Paradise junior. “I’ll be a little bit nervous but I guess with all of the family and support, you just put your body on the line and everything will fall into place.
“You have done all the hard work so far so you just have got to go out there and let yourself play.”
This tournament and the subsequent World Rugby Under-20s Championship in France have long been goals of Sargeant’s.
He will miss Bond’s away match against University of Queensland today.
