Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin - - NEWS - AMANDA ROBBEMOND

ONE of the Gold Coast’s most recognisable buildings will be the backdrop to a TV series being filmed next year.

The 12-episode crime thriller Beyond Truth features a mostly female cast and focuses on celebrity Katherine McAllister, who lives in the Q1.

McAllister calls the Coast home before her past catches up with her.

Darren Marshall, a graduate of the New York Film Academy, will direct and produce the series under his company, Darren Marshall Productions.

The cast include local talents Arabella Morton, who played Mallory in the film San Andreas, Amanda Larcombe from Break the Cycle, and Racheal Leigh, who worked on Occupation and Occupation 2.

Scriptwriter and lead actor Montanna Dowden said she wrote the script over four years when she was going through a number of personal issues.

She said the script was “unintentionally” femaledriven, but that she was excited to bring more female law-enforcement officers into the often maledominated space.

She said they would be filming on the streets, in the Q1, at the Gold Coast Little Theatre and possibly at Gold Coast school, as well as locations in Brisbane.

Filming is due to begin early next year and the pilot is slated for completion by August.

A TV series will be shot on the Gold Coast early next year – Beyond Truth, written by Montanna Dowden (centre) and also starring Olivia Scott, Arabella Morton, Amanda Larcombe and Marian Meciar.
