Putting Mr Right on ice

-

SINGLE women are freezing their eggs to avoid “panic parenting” with Mr Wrong.

A lack of partner, or a partner unwilling to commit to fatherhood, are the main reasons why women freeze their eggs, according to a study from De Montfort University in the UK.

A study, published in the journal Human Fertility, found many wanted more “breathing time” in their search for a suitable partner who wanted kids.

Data from the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority 2018 annual report shows more women than ever are trying to conceive using their own frozen eggs.

At one Melbourne IVF clinic an egg freezing treatment cycle costs around $5000, with another $2500 to $3500 for medications and surgery and $500 a year for storage.
