Ex-bikie boss stays in prison

- LEA EMERY

FORMER Bandidos bikie boss Jacques Teamo says it is “not easy” being behind bars.

The 49-year-old was in Southport Magistrates Court again yesterday where he pleaded guilty to common assault, wilful damage, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a water pipe used in relation to drugs.

Teamo’s lawyer Mollie Roper, of Cooper Maloy Legal, told the court Teamo’s time in custody from August was tough for him.

“Custody is not easy for my client,” she said. “My client was severely assaulted at the start of this year. He is now in protection as a result.”

Ms Roper said Teamo (pictured) was beaten by seven inmates so severely he was in intensive care for five weeks.

Teamo was returned to custody in August after his parole was revoked.

The court was told that on May 4, Teamo was at Pacific Fair when he hit a friend on the back of the head.

He then kicked the man’s $170,000 Mercedes Benz leaving a dint in the door.

On May 13, Teamo’s house was searched and police found a pipe used to smoke cannabis at his house. He was taken to the watchhouse and a clip seal bag containing 0.296g of the drug ice fell to the ground when Teamo was asked to remove his underwear.

Magistrate Kay Philipson yesterday said she was not going to give Teamo another suspended sentence as she felt that proved no deterrent.

She sentenced him to three months prison with immediate parole eligibility.

It is not clear when Teamo will be released as he must now submit an application to the parole board.

He will remain in protective custody until his release.
