Outdoor appeal and beach view

- JESSICA BROWN

HOUSES that make the most of outdoor living are becoming hot property.

An acreage estate at Mudgeeraba with panoramic views of the Gold Coast is one of them.

The Hardys Rd house, on the market for $1.8 million, has a 3m-wide balcony that spans its entire length to admire the ocean and skyline views.

It joins an entertainment pavilion with a plumbed gas barbecue, surround sound system and wet bar, which overlooks a children’s playground and resort-style pool.

Owners Sean and Terri Diljore bought the property more than two years ago as their “forever home”.

They were so excited to move in that they started renovations before the sale settled.

“We actually gutted the inside before we took ownership of the property,” Mr Diljore said. “But we were unconditional at that point.”

He said his creative wife was the mastermind behind the renovation, which included ripping up the tiles to have polished concrete flooring and installing a gas fireplace with feature timber facade in the living area.

“It (was) finished three days before Christmas,” Mr Diljore said.

Among the six-bedroom home’s standout features are a cinema that could double as a children’s rumpus room, office, gym and self-contained flat.

While reluctant, they have decided to downsize as Mr Diljore’s frequent travelling for work made it difficult to maintain the property.

“It’s a beautiful house and a beautiful property but it’s acreage and acreage demands time to keep it looking beautiful,” he said.
