I do a lot of walking for exercise on the northern end of the Gold Coast. Why is it that a lot of people can’t be bothered to acknowledge you when you say “good morning”? I thought that it was the polite and friendly thing to do.

With regards to zebra crossings, the Traffic Act states that when a pedestrian approaches a crossing with the intention to cross they are to stop, look to the right, look to the left, look to the right again, and then if the road is clear then cross as quickly as possible. You do not just walk out on to the crossing and expect the whole world to stop. Not many pedestrians know this rule but it would be a good idea if they realised it.
