Top trial puts bro in race

- MARK OBERHARDT

AN impressive trial win has trainer Robert Heathcote hopeful his galloper No Annamossity can emulate his famous relative Buffering and become a stakes winner at Doomben.

No Annamossity is a three-quarter brother to seven-time Group 1 winner Buffering and Heathcote early on thought the gelding might also be up to elite class.

No Annamossity has had to battle serious injury problems but he has won six races.

The gelding was one of the stars of the recent Doomben barrier trials where he made short work of a strong field including leading sprinter Care To Think.

The trial was so good Heathcote decided to give No Annamossity ($13) a firstup run in the Group 3 George Moore Stakes (1200m) today.

“It was a very good effort in the trial,” Heathcote said.

“He has two pins in a leg he fractured in winning a race as a young horse.

“Who knows how good he could have been?

“But this seems the right race for him. He had an ideal barrier and while I don’t think he will lead he can be right up on the pace.

Gold Coast trainer Toby Edmonds believes a change of luck will put Tyzone ($4.50) in contention today.

Edmonds was far from disappointed with Tyzone’s fourth in the Keith Noud Quality at Doomben two weeks ago, saying the result could have been different with better luck.

“Nothing went right,” Edmonds said. “Tyzone ended up in an awkward position and to finish as close as he did was a good effort.”
