Coast team’s royal joy

A GROUP of Gold Coast water polo players have made a splash in Thailand.

Caroline Zanussi, Jacqui Lukis, Jane Lawrence, Stacey Williams, Peta Schulte and Mikayla Thomas, along with Emma Hills as coach, have returned home after claiming gold at the Princess Chulabhorn Cup.

The players were part of the Australian Country Women’s team competing in Bangkok and took back to back titles.

The Cup saw 27 teams from 11 countries competing across men’s, women’s and under-18s.

The women’s success comes at a time when water polo is on the rise on the Gold Coast, the fastest growing region in Queensland.
