TALK UP YOUNGSTERS

-

Q How do you feel the Australasian PGA Tour markets its youngest stars at the moment?

A They are the superstars we have access to and they are all playing and supporting the tour all the time. One thing we have to do better is profile and market our young guns like they do in other sports. Young AFL and NRL players (like Kalyn Ponga, right) that go out and have two games and kick 20 goals or score three or four tries become household names very quickly. We have to get our upand-coming stars into the households really quickly as well to profile them a bit more. That is something we will be doing.

Q Have you or anyone from the team spoken to Jason Day personally to find out if he is a chance of playing in 2019?

A We have opened discussions with his management team. Next year will be big and we will have three events in a row with the Australian PGA Championships, the Australian Open (in Sydney) and our season- finisher next year being the Presidents Cup (in Melbourne). We know the guys will be heavily involved in the Presidents Cup and the schedule we are looking at at the moment will allow them to be out here hopefully for the three weeks. We are already looking into the future. We just need to get through the Australian PGA Championship. Hopefully in 2019 we will see a lot of our highest ranked players back home on Australian soil.
