Kennewell fears WA mare
TRAINER Lloyd Kennewell is wary of Perth mare Enticing Star and jockey William Pike as Viddora chases Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) history at Ascot today.
Supremely confident in Viddora’s qualities, Kennewell has respect for the defending champion’s rivals, including Enticing Star, a winner of eight of nine starts. “If Enticing Star hadn’t got beaten last start, she’d probably be favourite for this race,” Kennewell said.
Viddora, a $2.60 favourite with Ladbrokes, is attempting to become the first successive winner of the $1 million sprint since Hardrada in 2002-03.
“These races are not easy to win,” Kennewell said.
