The body of a nine-month-old baby is washed up on Surfers Paradise beach. It is later revealed police, frustrated that Child Safety repeatedly ignored calls for help since June, drove the homeless family to a relative across the border. They allegedly found the parents were inebriated in a Broadbeach park. They had a history of domestic violence. Despite police elevating the urgency of the case, DOCS only listed her as “concerned inquiry of the child”. After the family hook-up fails, the baby is allegedly dumped by her father in the Tweed River.
