ALLISTER BRINGS JOY TO THE WORLD

- EMILY HALLORAN

ALLISTER McCormick is the star behind the scenes of the Gold Coast’s annual Broadbeach Christmas Carols.

Mr McCormick has been producing the annual carols for the past decade but he won’t take any credit or recognition for it as he says it’s all about the kids.

“All I do is design the music. It’s a children’s show, so I make sure they create the whole how and it is run by them,” he said.

This year’s carols will be performed by about 100 people from the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and Gold Coast Choir.

The choir have been putting the performance together for the past three months and leading up to the event have been practising up to about 25 hours a week.

After 10 years of highlighting young local Gold Coast talent, the 78-year-old has no plans on stopping.

“I would like to do another 10 years,” Mr McCormick said.

“I just do it because I love it. I’ve always loved music and Christmas is a very special time of the year for everyone.”

This year’s carols will be held at Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach, from 6pm today.
