Knights star reveals battle
GOLD Coast Knights captain Andrew Barisic has revealed his struggles adjusting to life in the Gold Coast Premier League after more than a decade playing professionally across the world.
Speaking in the latest edition of the Gold Coast Bulletin’s Round Ball Round Up podcast, the 32-year-old opened up about joining the powerhouse Knights in 2017 following a two-year stint in Hong Kong.
“It was hard coming from overseas and then going straight to the Gold Coast Premier League,” said Barisic, who also spent time in Germany, Indonesia, India, China and in the A-League with Gold Coast United.
“The Melbourne NPL was pretty much my go-to every time I had a break over in Asia or was just waiting for contracts, so I was used to that standard and then coming back here it wasn’t the easiest.
“But I had to learn to adjust and it’s good now going back to the level above (in the NPL next season).
“I’m looking forward to it and the challenge. The next thing is to go and win the NPL.”
Barisic is on the comeback from off-season ankle surgery.
