BOARD MAN SHAPES UP FOR MAGIC CARPET RIDE

- SALLY COATES

A GOLD Coast businessman who became best pals with Aquaman will strut his stuff at the local red carpet premiere next week – once he learns what that means. Tim Beban, owner of The Surfboard Warehouse, bonded with Jason Momoa last year when the Hollywood star was on the Coast filming Aquaman.

The world premiere of Aquaman took place on Thursday night in Hollywood, where Momoa attended with co-stars Nicole Kidman and Amber Heard and performed a ceremonial Haka. While Kidman and Heard won’t be present on Tuesday, Mr Beban has already rubbed shoulders with Momoa’s rich and famous friends.

Their families went on camping trips together and were invited to parties at Momoa’s Hedges Ave holiday home, where Mr Beban bragged about his business to billionaire Elon Musk and asked Amber Heard where he could put his baby’s pooey nappy.

From there the pair even crafted their own custom stand-up paddleboard, stamped with Momoa’s Hawaiian tattoo.

Fast forward 11 months and Mr Beban still talks to Momoa regularly and on Tuesday at Events Cinemas, Robina, will walk the red carpet alongside his beefy pal at the Australian Aquaman premiere. Whatever that means … “I was about to ask you, what’s the red carpet all about?” Mr Beban asked the Bulletin.
