Prezident gains vote of confidence for Konvo
EQUITY crowd-funding platform Crowdfunding.com.au is more than one-fifth of the way to its goal of raising at least $500,000 for Gold Coast eCommerce platform Konvo.
Accountant Chaz Prezident, who is also president of the Gold Coast Junior Chamber of Commerce, said $110,000 had been raised so far from retail investors.
Konvo is aiming to raise between $500,000 and $5 million. If the minimum amount is not raised, the money is returned to investors. Mr Prezident said the investors had come from a range of ages and backgrounds.
“They have been diverse so far,” he said.
“It is not just 18 to 25-year old men, it is a mix.”
Mr Prezident, who said he had invested $1000 of his own money in Konvo, described the platform as a mix of Amazon and Shopify.
However, it differed from the latter in two ways: it provides a marketplace to companies selling products and it takes a percentage of sales as its cut rather than a fixed fee.
Legislation was recently passed to allow equity crowdfunding for private companies.
It stipulated investors put in between $100 and $10,000.
