RURAL LIFESTYLE REALLY APPEALS

-

Q

Turning attention away from footy, you have two horses and three dogs ... have you always been an animal person?

A

I always lived on a farm so I have always had a lot to do with animals. Just the farming life in general I really enjoy, I will go back to it after footy.

That’s the sort of thing that appeals to me away from football so it’s nice to have something to go home and do, whether it’s a bit of fencing or just mucking around with the horses.

Q

When you say you will go back to the farm life after your NRL career, have you got anything in particular locked in or is it something that is more or less in the works?

A

Yeah, my brother (Lachlan) and I bought two properties that back on to Mum and Dad’s at Cowra (in southern NSW) so we have got a fair bit of land there to go back and do some work on.

Hopefully I go back and have a successful career on the farm. That would be nice.

Q

Has Lachlan also played his fair share of footy? Or were you on your own there?

A

He just mainly loves the farms. He lives and breathes the farm really. He played in the juniors one year down at Canberra, he just did some trialling but he didn’t really enjoy it a hell of a lot so he thought he would go back to the farm. He has been there ever since and has done really well for himself.

Q

Tell us a bit about where you’ve set yourself up. With two horses, you must be on a bit of land? And did the horses come up with you from Canberra?

A

We have got 11 acres (4.5ha), my partner Nadia and I. We have got a little boy who is 10 months old as well. It’s a nice little spot. I really enjoy living out there.

My partner Nadia, her horse came up with us and I bought one the other week.

Q

So is it fair to say working on the property and looking after the animals are your main interests away from the footy field?

A

It’s just a bit of a hobby, I like anything like that to get out of town. I go camping.
