Big things expected

HER mother was called Big Red. She is known as the Next Big Thing.

She is Lani Pallister, 16 years old and tipped to come of age at this week’s Queensland Swimming Championships, which start today at Brisbane Aquatic Centre, Chandler.

Or they do for some swimmers. Pallister won’t hit the water until tomorrow after competing in today’s Ocean6 surf lifesaving event in Wollongong in NSW.

She will contest eight pool events, including the open 400m and 800m freestyle, a relatively light schedule for her.
