FIVE ATHLETES AND TEAMS TO WATCH AHEAD OF ROUND 3 OF THE OCEAN6 SERIES
Cory Taylor
is looking dangerous in fourth overall and close to cracking a podium finish with a fifth in Round 1 and fourth in Round 2. The Northcliffe ironman just won the surf board race at the Lifesaving World Championships and was second in the world ironman.
Ky Kinsela
is a real young guns making himself known in the series this season with some impressive racing but has also been a huge threat in the Ocean6 swim races. Heads into Round 3 after taking the world junior ironman crown in Adelaide this month.
Karlee Nurthen
hasn’t found form in the Nutri-Grain Ironwoman Series but she is riding a wave of confidence after the recent world titles (ironwoman and board crowns). Nurthen is dangerous and could shake things up in the iron and board races this weekend.
Northcliffe taplin relay teams
are dominating, leading in both the men’s and women’s fields. The taplin is always the most hotly contest event of the day and Northcliffe don’t want to let the bragging rights slip – even though the Surfers Paradise are world champs.
Bree Masters
is flying on the sand this season. She is leading both the sprint and beach flags series and hasn’t been beaten in the sprint. The rest of the field will do well to keep up with the Kurrawa speedster.
